While many of us love our city and call it home for many reasons, we do understand that our community (as do most others), has some room for improvement. There is a great need for more affordable housing, improved public transit system, and amelioration of the pollutants that settle in the Ohio Valley. Some neighborhoods have more than their fair share of pollutants. We are seeing an increase in our homeless population. Approximately 30% of our residents live below the poverty line, and housing segregation still exists. While we have made strides to improve upon many of these issues, we still have ample opportunities to make a positive difference in the lives of those who live here.
