KUUJAN (Kentucky UU Justice Action Network) News
- The Democracy Team was able to work with Black Achievers (a project of YMCA of Louisville) to craft a couple of videos designed to encourage high school students who will turn 18 before the general election to register to vote. As a result of this and other efforts, the Democracy team was able to help more than 150 youth to register to vote.
- The Racial Justice Team completed a survey (last lat year) of the KY congregations about the racial justice efforts they are engaged in, and what they feel they need in order to expand the impact of these efforts. As a result, the Racial Justice Team created a Racial Justice Toolkit (which they continue to update) that is available on the KUUJAN website.
- The Reproductive Justice Team (our newest team) has developed a relationship with Kentucky Religious Coalition for Reproductive Rights and is a part of the Protect Kentucky Access coalition. They have done the groundwork to align our efforts this summer and fall to help defeat the Anti Abortion Constitutional Amendment.
- Grant In addition, KUUJAN recently received a $10,000 investment to support our Get out the Vote efforts for this upcoming election cycle. Rus Funk will share an overview of this project, and we’ll begin discussing how we can use our work to fight this amendment as a way to mobilize voters in KY.
