Special Training this Sunday, February 22

Dear First U Lou,

I hope you’ll come to the special training this Sunday afternoon. It’s an LSURJ training on skills like de-escalation, community protection, and who to call if you see ICE. After the training, you can volunteer to join the Community Defense Network. Even if that’s not for you, the knowledge and skills LSURJ will share with us are essential for all of us to have in this time of rising authoritarianism.

It’s also a good time to learn about the Community Defense Network itself, which has expanded from its main role of keeping watch at sensitive community events. They now also do things like deliver groceries to people who are afraid to leave their homes due to ICE, give rides to people who have been released from detention, and more. Come find out what role might be right for you now, or learn now and keep it in mind for the future.
