A Sad Community Milestone

Dear First U Lou,

I write with the sad news of Susan Wilburn’s death in the early morning of Sunday, May 3. She passed at Treyton Oaks after a couple of weeks in nursing care.

Susan was a spirited woman who will be greatly missed. At age 98, she was our oldest member. She was at least the third generation in her family to belong to the First U community.Susan served on the Board, with Women’s Alliance, and in other leadership positions.
An oral history interview from 2016 is available through the Kentucky Historical Society. She shares many First U memories there.

Susan’s obituary has not yet been published. Likewise, her family is going to wait a while to hold her service. We will share details when the time comes.
