An Opportunity to Act: Justice for Breonna

LSURJ Faith, Presbyterian and other community faith leaders of all colors are asking you to sign this brief interfaith Justice for Breonna press release – https://bit.ly/BreDemands.  The plan is for it to be released Sunday evening, June 21, for publication Monday, June 22 in Louisville media outlets.
The statement calls for four specific measures to be enacted by Louisville metropolitan government leadership, in the pursuit of Justice for Breonna Taylor, David McAtee, and countless other people of color who have been abused and even killed as a result of systemic racism found in policing and other government structures.
  1. Fire, charge and prosecute the three police who killed Breonna Taylor.
  2. Establish a civilian review and oversight board with subpoena power to investigate all cases of alleged police abuses.
  3. Roll back the Fraternal Order of Police’s ability to unduly shield police from criminal prosecution.
  4. Divest a significant portion of the $190 million police budget and invest those funds in health, education, transportation, housing, food security, and living wage jobs to benefit Black communities.
We hope you will agree to endorse this statement and share with others in your faith communities, and among friends and family.

The goal is to get 300 names! Sign on the quick Google form no later than tomorrow (Sunday) at 5:00pm.

This is a great opportunity to take action toward making a difference!
