Time for First U to Sign Up for a CLOUT Listening Session
Autumn marks many beginnings - like school and our church year - and it's also the beginning of the CLOUT (Citizens of Louisville Organized and United Together) annual justice cycle, where we listen to learn which problems weigh on you and your loved ones.
First U is offering three opportunities to participate in this important stage. Each session will run about 75 minutes. If you are interested in participating, check your Midweek UUpdate or contact the office!

Louisville Pride: Save the Date! Sign Up to Help
Louisville Pride is almost here and we're looking for volunteers for the Glitter Booth! This event is more locally based with lots of community vendors, and our church will be co-hosting a booth with All Peoples September 12th from 11am-10pm.

UU Justice Film Festival 2027 - Want To Help Make It Happen?
First U is looking for people who are interested in helping - in your own preferred way - to stage the second annual Justice Film Festival, in collaboration with the Justice Center at All Peoples. Do you want to help select films for the early 2027 festival? Do you want to help acquire viewing rights? Or maybe help with publicity or put together panels for the post-viewing discussions. If you're interested in learning more and have skill or passion to participate in some way, click here.
WaterStep Shoe Collection
Shoe collection boxes can be found in several locations at church: lobby, library, etc. Your donation of gently-used shoes are brought to the WaterStep headquarters 1 mile away from church. This supports clean drinking water projects in communities all over the world!
Request for Donations: Wheelchair and Adjustable Crutches
Every so often, someone who temporarily needs a wheelchair or crutches asks First U for help finding what they need. If you have either and don’t need them, please consider donating them. They would be much appreciated. Contact the office for more information.
House and Grounds Work Party
House and Grounds meets the second Saturday of each month at 9:00 AM to take care of maintenance items like replacing filters in our HVAC units, changing out old lighting panels for new LED ones, and small repairs around the church. Reach out to the Operations Coordinator to get involved, or just show up!
Lunch with the ROMEOs
Join the “Retired Old Men Eating Out” at Locals on the southwest corner of East Broadway and Logan Street at 11:30 AM. They plan to meet on the second Monday of every month. Contact the office for more information.
First Sunday Lunch
Join us for lunch every first Sunday after the service – it’s a great way to make new friends and enjoy community. Suggested donation is $5, first time visitors are our guests.
First U Book Club 9/16
We meet in the church library on the second Monday of the month at 6:00 PM. Come join us, even if you haven’t read the book! Questions? Contact the church office.
The Book Club is taking a break in August. Join us the 2nd Monday in September when we’ll be discussing The Little Paris Bookshop by Nina George!

If you need childcare for your meeting, small group, or other First Unitarian Church event, please read the Childcare Request Guide and fill out the form.
