Love Note: Rev. Jesse Jackson in Louisville

Civil Rights leader Rev. Jesse Jackson will be in Louisville on Saturday, June 6 and Sunday, June 7, 2020. St. Stephen Church confirmed Jackson will be in attendance and having a conversation with Rev. Kevin Cosby during their 9:30 a.m. service on Sunday, which will be shared online.

Regarding the meeting referenced below in Rev. Lori’s Love Note, there has been no indication that it will be shared online. I will keep you informed if I get any further information.

Hello First U Family,
As mentioned in a note earlier this week, our Love Notes in this period of time will give us the opportunity to listen to the voices of those who can deepen our understanding of racial injustice.

The message today is unique in that it will be delivered live in our city by civil rights icon Rev. Jesse Jackson.   We have received an invitation as a community of faith to attend an event in which Rev. Jackson will be speaking live at the UofL Student Activities center at 6:30 tonight, Saturday June 6.  Please plan to attend, and in a subsequent Love Note I will share with you the inspirations and insights gained from this event.

Please see the official invitation received from Mayor Fischer’s office this morning.

In faith,
Lori

Good Morning, I wanted to invite you and your organization to a meeting with Jesse Jackson and his team to discuss the current events happening in our city and across the world.  I know that all of us are beyond tired of the senseless killing of black people by law enforcement.  However, we are much aware of the deeper issue of systemic racism that exists to continue to oppress our people.  We need solutions and actions taken to move forward!!!   We will be meeting at the UofL Student Activity Center at 6:30 this evening June 6, 2020.  I hope to see you there.
