There are many ways we connect with our community and the wider UU network:
Interfaith relations:
Unitarian Universalism is an independent cohesive religion, but we also recognize the benefits of respectful interfaith dialogue, both in service of our goal of a peaceful world community and to enrich our individual searches for truth and meaning.
UUA Common Read:
A Common Read invites participants to read and discuss the same book in a given period of time.
Women’s Alliance:
The mission of Women’s Alliance of First Unitarian Church is to advocate for women, children, and families.
UU Christian Fellowship:
UU Christians are non-creedal followers of Jesus rooted in the history and tradition of Unitarian Universalism. UU Christians explore liberal Christianity while walking freely in the spirit of Jesus. Currently, there is not a UUCF group meeting regularly at First Unitarian, but if you are interested in forming one, please contact the Worship Ministry chair at [email protected].
CUUPS:
Our CUUPs group is committed to promoting the practices and understanding of Pagan and Earth-Centered spirituality.
Partner Church:
First Unitarian Church of Louisville was partnered with the Unitarian Church of Nagyenyed in the Transylvanian region of Romania. In recent years, that partnership has gone on hiatus.
Home Hospitality:
Homestays are available through the UU’re Home organization.
Travelers are welcomed into the homes of First Unitarian Church members, with proceeds going to the church’s operating funds.
Partner organizations:
CLCM:
CLCM collaborates with the Association of Community Ministries, our community partners, and our neighbors to meet immediate needs and to act as a trusted advocate. CLCM’s offices are housed in First Unitarian Church.
CLOUT:
Citizens of Louisville Organized and United Together (CLOUT) is an organization of religious congregations working together to solve critical community problems. We are not a service provider, but a grassroots, direct action, multi-issue organization, which has come together to be a powerful force for improving the quality of life in our communities.
KRCRC:
KRCRC, a non-profit group of people of faith and conscience that includes members of many religions, supports the right of individuals to make reproductive decisions that are based on their own moral and/or religious principles, not those of any government. We use advocacy, education, and outreach to support access to reproductive health services, including abortion, and share information necessary to make informed choices. We oppose government interference in personal health decisions.
