Hello First U Family-
If you were able to attend this past Sunday’s service you’ll perhaps remember me mentioning the sharing of podcasts, etc… that contain messages to inform our understanding and engagement in the fight for racial justice. This is the first of these messages.
I thought it fitting to begin with a message about (and from) Congressman John Lewis. Rep. Lewis was iconic in the civil rights movement, and as I’ve learned more about him in the recent weeks since his death, my respect has only grown. Most of us remember the Christian catchphrase from some years ago ‘WWJD” (What would Jesus do?). Given the decades of courage and wisdom exhibited by John Lewis – two attributes desperately needed if we are to make continued headway in this fight for justice – I sometimes find myself wondering WWJD…what would John do?
In solidarity,
