Renting Our Building

Whether you are looking for space for a memorial service, conference, meeting, banquet or party, First Unitarian Church welcomes you to join us in our mission to nurture our community and transform our world!

If you are a group directly connected to First Unitarian, please complete a room request for space reservation.

Meetings: If you require a large space with sound and screens, or a small intimate and informal space, we can meet your needs.

Conferences: We can schedule several rooms for your use over multiple days (dependent on availability).

Parties: Need space for a party? From kids to adults, we have what you are looking for.

Banquet: We have hosted several dinners, from fundraising events to appreciation dinners. Our kitchen is certified by the city, and is available for use by your caterer.

Memorial Services*: We understand how difficult it can be to make arrangements that truly celebrate a loved one lost. At First Unitarian Church, we will do everything we can to help make your service a memorable one. Whether you would like to host an austere service in memory of your loved one, or a raucous celebration of life, we are here to help you.

Weddings*: At First Unitarian Church, we are open and affirming, and believe that love is love. We accept you and your partner as your whole selves, as you are, regardless of your race, gender, sexual orientation or gender identity. You are welcome here.

All life event rentals at First Unitarian Church are free of charge for members and friends of First Unitarian Church. The base price for a non-member or friend memorial service package is $800 for three hours, which includes access to the Sanctuary, social hall, and kitchen, as well as parking when available and church representative on site. Pricing for wedding services can be found on our weddings page.

To begin the process of room reservation for a private event, please fill out a Rental Application.

If you are a non-profit or community organization, please also fill out our nonprofit organization worksheet for appropriate pricing on a sliding scale.
All renters must agree to the First Unitarian Building Use Policy. To review our Building Use Policy, click here.
All renters using the kitchen must sign a Kitchen Agreement. Click here to submit a Kitchen Agreement.
All renters requesting use of the Tech Deck (A/V in the Sanctuary) must sign a Tech Agreement. Click here to submit a Tech Agreement.
- Please note: Use of static A/V equipment is subject to the availability of First Unitarian tech deck staff. Staff is compensated at a rate of $50 per hour. This fee is not eligible for discount.

What does my rental include?

Free parking (when available, please confirm)

ALL RENTALS REQUIRE A MINIMUM $100 SECURITY DEPOSIT DUE AT SIGNING TO SECURE YOUR RESERVATION UNLESS WAIVED BY THE OPERATIONS COORDINATOR.

Our Spaces:

Courtyard:

100 – 140 people.

Lovely for an outdoor wedding or reception.

Sanctuary:

200 – 230 people.

Our Sanctuary comes with 200 Sanctuary chairs, and optional sound and projection capabilities. Because our chairs and platform move, this space can be configured to your desires! (Dividing wall can be opened to include Social Hall.)

Social Hall:

121 people.

Our social hall is a large space that can be filled with tables and chairs to accommodate up to 121 people, or can be cleared out to have a large open space. This room is just off the kitchen, and is a good choice if you will be having a meal with your meeting. (Dividing wall can be opened to include Sanctuary area.) This room also has sound system capability.

Kitchen:

5 – 10 people.

Our kitchen is certified by the Louisville Metro Department of Public Health and Wellness! Using our kitchen and need to be certified? Click here!

Parlor:

5-10 people.

The parlor is our smallest meeting space, and is comfortably furnished with a couch and chairs. This room features floor to ceiling shutters that can be opened to let in natural light, original wood work and flooring, and a decorative fireplace.

Library:

10 – 20 people.

The library is a mid-sized meeting space for up to 20 people outfitted with tables and chairs. Tables can be arranged in conference or multiple group style, or chairs can used without tables for seminar/classroom style setup.

Open Classroom:

6 – 25 people.

Multiple additional classrooms are available in various sizes and arrangements.
