Labor Day — Inherent Dignity and the Need for Justice

The Labor Day Service will speak to the dignity of all work, expressing gratitude for the voices that call our attention to the plight of the workers. Our first and second principles will serve as anchors for this service; the inherent worth and dignity of all and justice, equity, and compassion in human relations.

Doug Taylor and Phil Candee, First U members, will speak from their personal experience and perspective on Labor Day. Doug has been a union leader in the New Albany-Floyd County Education Association for many years. He currently teaches 5th graders and serves as Treasurer for the Indiana State Teachers Association. Phil Candee works for the Social Security Administration and is also active in union activities.
