As the Executive Director of Kentucky Interfaith Power and Light, Elisa Owen works in the niche between faith and sustainability, her two passions. Before becoming an ordained Presbyterian minister in 2007, Elisa worked in Washington, DC on issues related to the economics of international electric energy regulation. Since graduation, Elisa has served as an interim youth director, solo pastor in Madison, Indiana, and Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, and interim pastor for three Louisville churches. She served as Executive Director of Breaking New Grounds, which made compost from coffee grounds, spent whiskey grains and tree waste to grow greens to sell to local restaurants. She also developed a vertically integrated kenaf business focused on sourcing plastic and other industrial products from Kentucky farms. Elisa has two daughters, Zoe and Cate. She is married to James Peterworth, a local realtor.
