John Dalberg-Acton once said, “History is not a burden on the memory but an illumination of the soul.”   How illuminated we are by history – both our own and the world’s – depends on the perception and engagement of the beholder.  As we begin our monthly theme of Holding History, Rev. Lori considers the darker moments of our nation’s past, and then explores what soulful enlightenments may be gleaned from these experiences.
