We are programmed to often think in opposite terms.   Love opposes hate, enthusiasm is the opposite of apathy, etc….   Similarly, despair can be seen as opposing joy, with joy being the goal and despair requiring removal, or at least reduction.   On this Sunday Rev. Lori explores the possibility of the internal impairment that we self-inflict when failing to embrace the fullness of our emotional experience.   This time of year, especially with the upcoming celebration of solstice darkness, provides the opportunity to consider how our hearts may be broadened when we work to embrace, instead of to overcome, emotions often regarded as negative.
