When did we stop being enchanted by story?

From Thoreau to Tolstoy to Gandi and King, there’s a story they tell of how to defeat sinister forces. That story’s still being written and we’re no more or less qualified than they were to make stories to meet these times.

For Martin Luther King, Jr. Day we’ll consider his contributions in the context of storymaking. It’s a story that was shared with him. It’s a story he has shared with us. It’s a story we are called to keep writing for our own troubled times.

About Our Speaker: Jim Hennigan

Jim was raised Catholic, as was his father, but Grandma Hennigan, born Helen Whitney, had Unitarian parents and the Unitarian Whitneys go back five more generations, which kind of makes Jim both a first generation UU and a seventh generation Unitarian. Right now, he’s just happy to be in his rookie season at First Unitarian with his partner, Jo Anne.
