Pledge Update
Thank you to everyone who already pledged for the next fiscal year (July1-June 30) using the online form or bright pink pledge form. We still need to hear from about half of you, so when your canvasser calls, please pick up. Remember, they don’t know how much you pledged last year, so have your information ready!  Our goal this year is $218,000 and we are well on the way! Don’t want a call? You can still pledge in person, pick up a QR code or use the online pledge form.

First Sunday Lunch
In honor of Earth Month, the 7th Principle Team has partnered with the lunch crew to present a vegan lunch Sunday April 6.  Veganism is beneficial to the environment because it requires less land, water and energy to produce than meat-based diets, leading to reduced greenhouse gas emissions, deforestation, and water pollution. Sunday’s menu: spring carrot soup, “egg” salad, and apple crisp dessert.

Putting Faith into ActionSpeaker: Rabbi Bob Slosberg
 

On Sunday April 6, members of the CLOUT Justice Ministry are bringing you the good news of what CLOUT (Citizens of Louisville Organized and United Together) is aiming to accomplish this year to bring justice to Louisville citizens and neighborhoods. Jane Buckley and Trish Ramey are the CLOUT network leaders at First U, the coordinators of about 20 network members active in our church.

About the Speaker
Our special speaker is Rabbi Bob Slosberg, Rabbi Emeritus of Congregation Adath Jeshurun, where he served for 44 years, here in Louisville and a co-president of CLOUT; he will update us on the status of various CLOUT issues and where we’re heading next.
Among many individual accomplishments over the years, Rabbi Slosberg is most proud of the work he has done (and continues to do) as co-president of CLOUT and co-chair of their Community Safety and Equity Committee, particularly as it pertains to police accountability.
 
 Rabbi Slosberg has a BA in History Cum Laude from Columbia University. And a BA, MA, Rabbinic Ordination and Doctor of Divinity from The Jewish Theological Seminary. He was Chairman of the Board of Albert A. List College for 3 years and Chairman of the Conservative movement’s Masorti Foundation (seeking religious pluralism in Israel) for 3 years.
About the Organization
CLOUT is made up of 24 religiously, racially, and economically diverse congregations from all parts of the city and seeks to address problems that affect large numbers of people and violate a basic sense of fairness, such as the lack of quality education or access to essential quality healthcare or affordable housing.  CLOUT has been working for justice in Louisville for over 30 years, with a focus on the common good.
