We are a Church of Reason and Spirit, that witnesses for progressive faith, nurtures our community, and transforms our world.

Love is the Spirit of this Church, and service is it’s law. This is our great covenant: to dwell together in peace, to seek the truth in love, and to help one another.

This is our mission and our covenant. They express what we hold dear in our shared search for truth and meaning, and guide our decision making along with our shared values. We recite these words together every Sunday to renew our commitment to our mission, our shared values, and each other.

• What Do We Believe? Our beliefs are diverse and inclusive. We have no shared creed. Our shared covenant is expressed through the inseparable and deeply interdependent shared values of interdependence, pluralism, justice, transformation, generosity, and equity – all centered around love.
• What Do We Do? We create change, in ourselves and in the world, through worship and inspiration, action and service, connection and care, and celebration and rites of passage.
• Our Symbol: The Flaming Chalice – A flame within a chalice (a cup with a stem and foot) is a primary symbol of the Unitarian Universalist faith tradition. To Unitarian Universalists today, the flaming chalice is a symbol of hope, the sacred, the quest for truth, the warmth of community, the light of reason, and more.
• Our History – Founded in 1830, the congregation of First Unitarian Church has been working to bend the arc of the moral universe toward justice for almost 200 years.
